Ronald McDonald House

(Kerry Here Live from the NICU family room with Lilly)
We got a room at the Ronald McDonald House. We are so relieved. We’ve called ~ 30 times a day . I have always seen the little Ronald McDonald House donation boxes but I never knew exactly what they were for- now I do. This is a really great place and a really needed service for parents (who live far away) with little ones hospitalized. I will be sure to donate in the future-
We are so lucky to get in, there is a huge waiting list. The Ronald McDonald House goes off of a waiting list until 4pm. After 4pm its open game and if you happen to call in after a room opens up it is yours. Thats how we got in. Otherwise there are like 20 people on the waiting list.
It is so nice here- We are so relieved mostly for Lilly, the instability of being away from home , away from her parents and in a diferent hotel or families house for the last 2 weeks has taken a toll on her. Thanks again to all of our great family that gave us a place to stay and everyone for helping out with Lilly.
This place has an actual McDonalds playroom with a slide and everything - as well as another playroom with every toy you could imagine. Lilly is in Heaven. In addition they have a computer room, video game room, chapel and a secret garden outside with several teepees or as Lilly says ” Look at the pee pees!”…
There is a kitchen too so we can have some normal sit down meals.
Anyways- The triplets are doing great. I bottle fed Emma and Alyssa yesterday- Jenell fed Katie. The girls are off of oxegon and caffeine- They are only on a feeding tube yet. The next step is to get them feeding and assuring they hold their heat in so we can get them out of the incubators.
The nurses here are amazing ! Next week we hope to get the girls feeding regulary , we have a car seat clinic to attend as well as infant cpr. We will keep you posted as we can.Â

Hi Kerry,
Glad to hear you got into the Ronald McDonald house, it sounds nice. Can you stay as long as you need to?
How long do you expect the girls to be in the hospital?
Glad to hear they are doing so well! We can’t wait to see them. How big are they now?
Love,

Hi Kelly,
We can stay as long as we need to. We’re not sure how long that will be. Initially the doctors say with pre- mature babies you can expect to got to a week before your 40 week delivery date. It all depends on when the girls start feeding and can hold their own heat. I think they said babies usually get the suck/swallow/breath down around 35 weeks- we are almost there.
The girls are all around 3 lbs . They’re all at about their birth weight- which isn’t bad because they lost ~10% of their weight after birth so they have gained that all back now.
They are doing very well-
Thanks for all the comments . The support is great !

HI EVERYONE,
The kids were sure right about the Ronald McDonald House being great. We stopped by on Saturday to visit the babies but never got there. We spent the time in the Mc’D’s House and it was wonderful. It is amazing who fancy it was. We are all so glad that you were all able to get in there. Any anyone wondering about Lilly, like they said it is a virtual playground indoors there. So we had a great time playing with the little people and castles and pretty pony things. I was shocked she didn’t play in the play area with the slide (just like a real Mc’d’s) probably because she needed some McNuggets to have with it…ha ha. Well I better get back to work…Let me know if you need anything…Love Aunt Debbie
