It’s not so dificult …yet

(Kerry Here)

We are doing great so far. Katie completes the trio on Wednesday. We anticipated this would be much more dificult than it has been so far. But we realize it’s very early.

The girls are wonderful. We took them in for their first appt with the pediatrician today. Everything checked out great.

We change the girls and feed them every 3-4 hours. We feed both of them at the same time. We burp them and then they usually go back to sleep. The amount of diapers, dishwasher runs- and laundry has been pretty unbelievable. Lilly is doing great- she loves her little sisters and she is really helping out where she can. So overall everything is great.

It was interesting taking the girls out in public for the first time. During the 20 minutes or so we waited in the waiting room at the doctors office- we received like 4 comments. It’s funny, people say and ask such stupid things when the encounter multiples. I’m proud and happy to talk about my triplets but I just get annoyed by people’s rude comments, and usually I just ignore them. I had one guy looking at us- and I knew he was going to say something… sure enough “So you got twins?” … I said “Yep, twins” and kept on walking. Jenell was like – “Why didn’t you tell him triplets?” I don’t want to talk to 85 strangers a day about how amazing it is we have triplets- and they all just say stupid comments.

I heard this today:

“You must have your hands full”

“Wow Twins”

“Geez you must not get any sleep”

“Sorry”

Just in a matter of 20 minutes on the first day ! I can only imagine how it will be with all three girls. On my new site- www.MultiplesNetwork.com , a person wrote a really funny (and disturbing) blog post regarding 25 “dumm” comments from people. Read it here – Dumb twin comments

Hi Kerry and Jenell,

Can’t wait to hear how it goes w/ Katie getting home tomorrow. Glad to hear that things are going smoothly so far.

I’m sure you haven’t even begun to scratch the surface on comments from strangers. We get a fair amount of attention just for having the three boys who look a lot alike, but not even multiples. When we were at Universal Studios in February, we bought them matching t-shirts that say “thing 1″, “thing 2″ and “thing 3″. That *really* brings out the comments.

How big are the triplets now? Inquiring minds want to know… :)

Love,
Kelly

the comments will only get worse & worse- wait til you take em out for a spin to the grocery store- fair warning- you are going to get MOBBED by everyone & anyone-the first we went i spent an hour in the deli & didnt have the heart to run off the old ladies and their husbands & cousins & all-then the rude parts kicked in- people will literally throw themselves in front of you (& no the stroller will NOT stop on a dime!!!! and as they grow it gets HEAVIER!!!) they will do silly things like stop in front of you, block you from being able to get down the aisles or out from the aisles (one guy nearly sat on our stroller once just to warn you) be forwarned- after the 20th or so times of hearing “i’m sorry” or “better you than me” it will get old & you will be tempted to say something- & sometimes i do- cant help it-especially if they are acting like we are a circus sideshow-things just slip out!!! there is an english couple with triplets & the dad blogs (you can search for him its pretty easy to find) he says silly things to em when asked if its triplets he likes to say, no quads- oh no, where’s the other one?? sorry gotta find him…& stuff like that- its harder the older they get-they will really start to sense that some of what is being said isnt positive & then it really puts me on the defensive- get ready for it now so you are prepared!!!! i hadnt any clue & did it all on the fly with mine-so i probably wasnt as nice as i could have been (& i write for the local paper & am pretty high profile with a following which makes it harder!!!!) so practice your nice comebacks & try to hang in there & figure out how to grin & bear it a bit- just know that there are times when its just NOT gonna happen & the other folks will just have to understand!!!!
good luck guys!!!!hang in there!!!
