Thanks to Chris

I just wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU TO our old friend Chris for helping us out this last weekend. Not only did she help us with Lilly, she helped me clean and organize the house and on top of that she bought us supper! How great is that. Thank you so much Chris for that great treat, you are welcome here anytime.

On top of all of this, she also helped me out a lot before the girls came, she went out of her way to get items for me on local groups and brought them here and even payed for some of them! We cant thank you enough, thanks..

The girls are getting harder to manage , for me anyway! I had it down to a science, changing, feeding , burping- I don’t think they like me anymore. They don’t want to burp for me. I use to show off and simply point at Emma and she would burp on cue. Now they just fuss and fuss until it seems like they are going to explode. Luckily Jenell can get them to burp.

They slept more last night- We fed them at 10:30 and not again until 5am ! Hey they slept through the night. If they agree to sleep through the night I will agree to trickier burps- otherwise i’m out. I’m getting so absent minded with this weird sleep schedule. I found myself standing in the hallway yesterday wondering “Why am I in the hall?…Was I going to the kitchen or the bedroom?…” I noticed a shiny penny on the ground which got me back on track.

Lilly just gave up last night and fell asleep on the couch, then she tried to get up , she put her feet on the ground , but fell asleep again. She was sleeping standing up/ leaning on the couch while asleep. I took some picture I will upload later.

We are doing great so far. Katie completes the trio on Wednesday. We anticipated this would be much more dificult than it has been so far. But we realize it’s very early.

The girls are wonderful. We took them in for their first appt with the pediatrician today. Everything checked out great.

We change the girls and feed them every 3-4 hours. We feed both of them at the same time. We burp them and then they usually go back to sleep. The amount of diapers, dishwasher runs- and laundry has been pretty unbelievable. Lilly is doing great- she loves her little sisters and she is really helping out where she can. So overall everything is great.

It was interesting taking the girls out in public for the first time. During the 20 minutes or so we waited in the waiting room at the doctors office- we received like 4 comments. It’s funny, people say and ask such stupid things when the encounter multiples. I’m proud and happy to talk about my triplets but I just get annoyed by people’s rude comments, and usually I just ignore them. I had one guy looking at us- and I knew he was going to say something… sure enough “So you got twins?” … I said “Yep, twins” and kept on walking. Jenell was like – “Why didn’t you tell him triplets?” I don’t want to talk to 85 strangers a day about how amazing it is we have triplets- and they all just say stupid comments.

I heard this today:

“You must have your hands full”

“Wow Twins”

“Geez you must not get any sleep”

“Sorry”

Just in a matter of 20 minutes on the first day ! I can only imagine how it will be with all three girls. On my new site- www.MultiplesNetwork.com , a person wrote a really funny (and disturbing) blog post regarding 25 “dumm” comments from people. Read it here – Dumb twin comments

Hi,

Allysa and Emma have been home with us for 2 days.  Things are going really well. The night feeds are tough but we will get used to it.  We are really getting into a nice schedule. We have a black binder- we write everything down in the binder:

  • Feeding times and amount
  • Pody chart
  •  Calendar
  • Grocery List

It’s making things nice and structured, which really helps. The girls eat every 3-4 hours. We do the same thing each time- Change their diapers, feed and burp and move on to the next one. We are ready to have Katie home with us. Kerry is going to drop off some milk and visit soon.

Lilly has been a great helper- honestly.  She is doing very well. We will post some pictures soon,

We will keep you posted when we can !

We are taking Alyssa, Emma and Lilly home this afternoon. Katie should follow shortly a few days later. The Dr’s just want to be sure Katie is breathing OK and doesn’t have any
apneas.

We are so happy to go home, although it would be much better with Katie too. We decided to take the girls home as opposed to the Ronald McDonald house. It will be better for them. Kerry will drive back often to be with Katie until we bring her home.

Some quick Updates:

  • We had a car seat clinic yesterday. It’s quite a task getting 4 car seats into the car !
  • Today is Lilly’s last day of school in Milwaukee – since we’re going home. She will miss her friends and teacher
  • The girls are all doing excellent we are so blessed
  • Kerry’s new website http://www.multiplesnetwork.com is growing quickly- Word spreads fast ! He really isn’t doing anything and there are already 70+ “multiples” members – and the site is getting like 400-700 visits a day ! We hope the site helps multiples parents just like us !
  • We go home today !

Yesterday I had a great day with the triplets at the NICU. I changed, fed and burbed each baby. Each had nearly an entire bottle and each burbed for me!

We are so blessed having triplets, AND the fact that they are doing se well.

I spent all day with triplets on Saturday. I had some visitors from work stop by too. Pictures coming soon !

I ended the day by holding all three girls, Alyssa, Katie and Emma at one time. It was really cool. They were so peacefull. They are all still on moniters and they are pretty sensitive– they usually beep every 5 minutes or so- but while I was holding them they didn’t beep at all. And they slept so peacefully.

Later our Nurse, Aimee (another great nurse !) said that it’s scientifically proven that triplets heartrate slows down and they are much calmer when they are with each other ! I’m looking forward to getting back there to hold all three again and bathtime !
