Kerry had an accident while working on the bathroom this weekend. He was using a circular saw and hit a nail. He usually wears safety goggles when cutting but did not have them on this time. A small piece of the nail ended up in his eye.
His vision was blurry but after a while he thought maybe he scratched his cornea. He washed his eye out and continued working on the bathroom for a few more hours with his dad. They headed off to the hardware store for supplies and the sun was unbearable. Kerry’s eyes watered and he could not keep them open. He told his dad to drive and eventually said “take me to the emergency room”
The doctor looked into his eye and said “Well done! what did you do ? ” – The sliver of metal went all the way through his eye and stopped at the back of his eye- 90% through. They had to call in the eye specialist, who decided this would require eye surgery to remove. Kerry could still see out of the bad eye relatively well- a bit blurry but not too bad.
Kerry had to go in for surgery the next day. That night was terrible for him- His eye swelled and burnt when he shut it and the pain medicine made him sleepy so he had trouble falling asleep without being able to shut his eyes not to mention just the pain of having a piece of metal cut through your eye and sit there.
It was a mission getting the triplets packed away in time to get Kerry off to Surgery. Luckily his Dad was nice enough to drive down from Madison to bring him back home afterwards. The surgery is not for the faint of heart. (you may not be interested in this part ) While awake (but numbed up) they stick a long needle into his eye to work the piece out. It makes me queasy thinking about it. It didn’t seem to bother Kerry- he complained more about the discomfort afterwards than the fear of surgery before.
The surgery went well. The next day (today)Â Kerry went back in for post op appt. They took the patch off. He said this was the most difficult part-Â He anticipated his vision would be blurry for a while as it was before the procedure, but now he could not see a thing. They did an eye test and he couldn’t even make out the chart let alone the letters on it. This should get better though it is due to the accident, stitches (yes he has stitches in his eye) and swelling.
He has a lot of medicine, 3 eye drops for pain, infection and something else, an ointment for his stitches and pain pills. He cant drive at all for a few days and cant drive at night until next week. He is supposed to rest and hopefully the swelling will go down .
Only time will tell if his vision will be back to 100% . He has a followup appt next week, but unfortunately the stitches have to stay in for 2-3 weeks. The stitches cause such discomfort and at times pain. He says it’s just like you have a small pebble under your eyelid- every time you blink you notice it and it hurts. If your eyes are closed it causes discomfort and when his eyes are open its difficult because he cant see a thing out of his right eye. He has been using a patch on his eye just to cover up the blur. He has been sleeping a lot. The pills knock him out we hope he gets better soon.
I told him he is more work to take care of then Lilly -Â I have 5 babies to care for now !
I told Kerry he is done with the bathroom. I’m sure some of you saw the post of him falling through the ceiling a few months back. I will need an ambulance standing by if he decides to work on it some more! Luckily he is taking it all well. He said there is always a positive side- he got to watch most of the the Packer game from his room in the ER without babies screaming in the background.
Thanks for your thoughts.

Hi, this post is for Katie! You are awesome and so thoughtful! She found me through craigslist. When i was pregnant I posted things i needed. She has been sending me things for all of our girls ever since. This week I received in the mail a huge container full of baby girl things, among which was hand made blankets and hats, 3 beautiful snowsuits, beautiful clothes, lots of toys, diaper bag with three cans of formula, one beautiful Christmas dress, the exact one I was going to buy for the girls. So much stuff and this is not the first time she had sent us things either. She will not accept any money for shipping either. You are so great! Thank you so much. Some day we will have to meet in person! Thank you so much! We appreciate it so much!

Hi,
Jenell here, not to much time to write, but I wanted to tell everyone about my awesome volunteers. They are the best two helpers I could ask for. Mary Jo and Robin, if you read this, thank you so much for everything, I don’t know where me (or my house) would be right now. They help with everything, cleaning, playing with Lilly, helping me with the trio in every way, etc! You two help me out so much, more than you know…Thank you!
I am much to busy to sit down and talk to anyone on the phone, so I am glad I have some adults around to talk to. Thank you so much, your kindness will not be forgotten.

I miss working !
Babies, Babies, Babies… I miss working with websites, launching social networks
, developing flash games. So today beetween baby feedings, diaper changes, baths, banging my head up against the wall, more feedings- I spent some time (wasted some time) re-working the “Diaper Calculator” that I programmed in Flash a few months ago.
I added a chart, cleaned it up a bit and added the ability for people to embed the calculator on their own website or blog. The new diaper calculator can be found via the following link:

Held all three girls at once!

Yesterday I had a great day with the triplets at the NICU. I changed, fed and burbed each baby. Each had nearly an entire bottle and each burbed for me!
We are so blessed having triplets, AND the fact that they are doing se well.
I spent all day with triplets on Saturday. I had some visitors from work stop by too. Pictures coming soon !
I ended the day by holding all three girls, Alyssa, Katie and Emma at one time. It was really cool. They were so peacefull. They are all still on moniters and they are pretty sensitive– they usually beep every 5 minutes or so- but while I was holding them they didn’t beep at all. And they slept so peacefully.
Later our Nurse, Aimee (another great nurse !) said that it’s scientifically proven that triplets heartrate slows down and they are much calmer when they are with each other ! I’m looking forward to getting back there to hold all three again and bathtime !

Kerry launches new website for Multiples !

Whaaaat? Kerry doesn’t have time to be launching websites!
Weeks before Jenell went into labor I started working on a new website for people interested in twins, triplets and beyond. I just about had the site completed and Jenell decided it was time. I spent a few hours last weekend and finished the site and launched it.
It’s not just any website, it is a social community themed for multiples. It’s similar to facebook.com. It’s free – users can create a custom profile page, the get their own blog, they can upload images, video and more. The community aspect is really cool . You can assign friends and send messages. And everything is tagged- So if I want information on “identical twins” OR “GGG triplets ” it can all be found. Profiles, images, blog posts, files are all tagged.
Jenell and I are members of many triplets forums. It’s amazing how many triplets there are out there- One of the triplets forums has like 80,000 registered users, twins I am sure is 4 x that easily. – Multiples like to stick together- but forums are so “blah” – that is why I wanted to make this site.
The site has only been live a few days but it is doing great. Nearly 40 members already -Yesterday the site received over 700 hundred unique visits!
The other reason I made this site ? I am a geek- AND its a social community, the users generate the content- The site will build itself as I am busy with Lilly, work and the Triplets.
Check it out-
