Better Safe than Sorry

Yesterday May 26th we had a big scare! Kerry had to rush me to the hospital all the way in Milwaukee. I was having contractions, not severe but enough to get my attention. I have been feeling a lot of pain these past weeks and have been scared of going into premature labor. After we arrived at Froedert, they checked us in right away which was really nice. They were quick to put me on fetal monitors to check the babies heartbeats and check my cervix.

They ran some tests and everything turned out OK. It’s possible to have contractions without going into labor- and this was the case for me. Sometimes it’s caused by dehydration – or just the stress of carrying three babies in a one baby compartment. The babies are doing great.

We were there for about 4 hours . Lilly was not allowed to be in the room while I was being examined. Kerry took her all around the hospital, I think he got lost a few times but it was great having them both there.

I feel the babies kicking all the time now. Triplet A is the trouble maker, she likes to move and kick really hard. When they went to hear her heart beat she kept switching positions. We will have to give her a tough name. Baby B and C are the good ones, they say baby B will be the sweetie pie because she is in the middle and will be the third born. Wow did I just say that, three, no four babies we will be blessed with, It is still hard to wrap my brain around.

I will keep updating on how I am doing and what happens next. Hopefully they will stay in there for as long as possible- 38 more days at least.

Hey Jenell this is Julie from the triplet connection. I read your follow up note today and am glad you went into the hospital to get checked out. You are right, better safe than sorry. I had at least a dozen or so trips in there, some resulted in medications, some resulted in a “take it easy” lecture and the last one resulted in my babies being delivered 5 days later. So you never know, it’s best to go to make sure.

You are entering that stage right now at 26+ weeks where a lot of women struggle. I just wanted to give you some encouragement and tell you that if you are getting uncomfortable and impatient about carrying these babies much longer, it is NORMAL. I posted an “I want to give up” post on the forum when I was about 27 weeks. I was just miserable, I remember just wanting to quit. It was reassuring to me to know that other women had struggled with the same thiing. So if it gets harder before it gets better (better being seing your beautiful babies), keep trucking and post on TC for some support!

Take care,

hang in there! its going to be a bit scary, but you & the babies will be ok! drink your water & listen to your body- i had contractions the entire last month of my pregnancy-if you find them getting too close together, i found that i could break up the rhythm of them by getting up and changing positions or taking a small walk around the room even- it worked for me! the lucky thing is at least you know a contraction when you feel one now! and can be more awares of everything! every day they can spend inside is good for them & for you! good luck & i will be thinking about you! email me if you need to talk!
